Hobby ElectronicsI know how hard it is to get one or two, or small numbers of components at reasonable prices. When I started playing with electronics it cost a small fortune to gather up the parts needed for a weekend project, but at least it was possible through retail shops. Back then there were 3 or 4 good retail shops in Wellington with a good range of components. Now there are only a couple of shops, one of those mostly selling plastic toys and computer software. Every year fewer components. If electronics is a hobby or you are seriously studying electronics then you will be needing components, including a few that are not readily available. I may be able to help. We have a good stock of the general parts that we use all the time, and have access to many others. If you have any questions, send me an email and we'll see what we can do. Some Interesting ComponentsMC68HC11 This was my main processor for many years We've been using and supplyiny the MC68HC11F1 because it does everything we needed and was readilly available. One of the main reasons I like the HC11F1 is that it's easy to add external RAM and Flash memory. Many micros are now available with internal Flash memory. Most of these only have a tiny amount of RAM. For many applications I prefer more RAM. It makes code development much quicker and easier because you can develop directly in RAM and then transfer it to Flash when done. PIC Micro I use these a lot for smaller things. Many of my PIC projects are designed to be an add-on or expansion module for a larger system, usually an HC11 in my case. DS1620, DS1820 Dallas Semiconductor. These are quite good temperature sensors, small and simple but expensive. I've been designing them out recently because the manufacturer has changed their distributor and I don't deal with the new distributor. For any specific information, I can be contacted by email |
